Arize ships hosted MCP server, explains MCP vs CLI vs skills
aparnadhinak · x · 2026-10-03
- Earlier this year Arize's CPO argued "MCP = context tax, the future is CLI and files" — last week the team shipped a hosted MCP server for Arize AX, with Code Mode in the Phoenix OSS version.
- The authors say both calls were right: with tool search and code execution now standard in harnesses, the token tax stopped mattering, and the real question became where your agent runs and who is asking for data.
- The companion post lays out when to use MCP, CLI, or skills, citing public discussions from OpenAI and Anthropic folks.
