Quoting @taoroalin, gleech argues that whatever aspect of AI you focus on—architectures, alignment, pretraining data, RL environments, GPUs, or datacenters—it likely explains only a small fraction of model performance. Model capability emerges from many factors at once, and no single discipline owns the explanation.
