Ethan Mollick: corporate America has adopted AI — org change is just slow
emollick · x · 2026-10-03
Wharton professor Ethan Mollick responds to Rohit Krishnan's observation that AI has gone fully mainstream: senior leaders are vibecoding, running Claude, automating workflows, and AI capex is propping up the S&P — "we're not so early anymore."
Mollick agrees and pushes back on the AI community's self-congratulatory "we're so early" narrative. Senior leaders are smart, motivated, understand their businesses, and many are technically adept — they are absolutely getting AI. The real bottleneck isn't awareness or tooling, but that changing a company is simply a longer process: organizational change sets the pace of enterprise AI adoption.
