Yi Ma: any theory of intelligence must be measurable, verifiable and predictable
YiMaTweets · x · 2026-10-03
Berkeley professor Yi Ma endorsed the view that instead of philosophizing about consciousness, researchers should use their theory to build something that helps humanity — just as Newton's gravity enabled space travel and GPS. He extends this to intelligence research: stay away from anything philosophical, meta-mathematical or metaphysical; a scientific theory of any life-associated phenomenon must be measurable, verifiable, predictable — and therefore useful.
