AI coding agents' most useful trait: they can hold still without complaining

Developer @mlaprise argues that one of the most useful aspects of AI coding agents is their ability to sit idle without complaining.

Complex software requires answering many questions before coding. Traditional teams must always look busy, so people often end up building unspecified or useless features while waiting for a clear vision.

Agents don't have this problem: start a session, put it on hold, think it over, then wake it up two weeks later and continue with zero context-switching cost.
