Pi Durable as statecharts: an interactive demo of crash-safe LLM agent harnesses

The author argues for Statecharts as a way to take the pain out of distributed systems—free (just ideas), and the local reasoning they enable is loved by agents (just point your agent at SCXML!).
An interactive demo ports Earendil's Pi Durable durable agent harness into statecharts:
- Every task is a statechart that commits a checkpoint to storage before each step
- Kill the process anytime; a new process opens the same storage and resumes each unfinished task from its last checkpoint
- A cut-off model request is resent; the partial answer stays in the transcript marked as aborted
- A harness = storage plus machinery to run parallel LLM conversations; env functions build per-call environments from the working directory
Playable prototype: adjust speed, kill processes, add clients, and watch crash-recovery semantics play out.
