Schmidt Sciences named University of Toronto assistant professor Chris Maddison a 2026 AI2050 Early Career Fellow. This year's cohort of 22 early-career and 6 senior fellows is eligible for up to $16 million over three years.
Maddison's project tackles scarce, expensive-to-verify scientific data in drug discovery by building AI methods that learn from diverse scientific measurements to accelerate new medicine discovery. The AI2050 program funds research ensuring AI develops responsibly toward being beneficial by 2050.
