AIXI pioneer Marcus Hutter publishes 'Job-Less Utopia' on macroeconomics in the AGI age
mhutter42 · x · 2026-10-02
Marcus Hutter, originator of AIXI, has published Job-Less Utopia: Macroeconomics in the Age of AGI (2026, 270 pages), now orderable worldwide, with slides, a recorded talk, and a 45% discount on his site.
Core thesis: as AGI and advanced robotics decouple productivity from human labor, mass un(der)employment is highly probable — yet a post-labor economy is consistent with universal material prosperity if output holds. The book argues that clinging to full employment breeds hyper-competition and wasteful BS jobs, while UBI or structurally adapted welfare is both viable and highly desirable, covering redistribution, economic objections, democratic stability and meaning in a post-work world.
