Picornaviruses infect tens of millions of children every year. Until now, their sequences were known but their structures largely were not—and mapping structures is key to understanding how these viruses function.

The team mapped the structures of every picornavirus sequence they could find, producing roughly 75,000 structures and releasing the entire dataset open source. It's a rare-scale structural resource for virology research.
