Google's AIM Manages Research Ideas Autonomously, Reaching Best Baseline 3.1x Faster
google · hf · 2026-10-01
Google introduces AIM (Agentic Idea Manager), a framework for idea-driven automated research inspired by Bayesian optimization. On 10 AutoLab tasks it beats the strongest baseline by 1.6 points on system optimization and 4.9 points on long-horizon Model Development & CUDA tasks, reaching best-baseline performance up to 3.1x faster, with theoretical analysis of when idea-level search pays off.
