AI writing disappoints because models can't have writer's block, researcher argues

Quintin Pope argues AI writing has been a disappointment—AI-favored phrases quickly become clichés—because models architecturally cannot have writer's block and speak even with nothing to say. Continual learning, more flexible runtime architectures, and the ability to revise output might help; similar training data and cross-distillation worsen homogenization.
