College Board redesigns AP CS courses to embed GenAI starting 2027-28 school year
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-01
Based on surveys of thousands of AP teachers, College Board is redesigning AP Computer Science Principles and AP Seminar for 2027-28. CSP will embed GenAI across core units (ML, algorithms, data ethics, societal impact) and add an AI Create Project where students build their own AI app; Seminar's scored essays must be drafted in a proctored room with no GenAI access. 92% of surveyed teachers worried students would lean on AI for basic tasks. The author advises using AI where it deepens learning while protecting skills that still need unaided practice.
