Robotics advice: put an IMU on every rigidbody and an encoder on every pivot — sensormaxxing
_Stocko_ · x · 2026-09-30
A short but meaty robotics engineering take: if you're building a robot, put an IMU on every rigidbody and an encoder on every pivot. Robots need more sensors—"sensormaxxing."
The underlying logic is full-state observability: denser sensing means lower observation latency and less state-estimation error accumulation, directly benefiting learned control (mimic/RL) and data quality.
