Flexiv arm localizes touch using only joint torque sensors, no skin sensors
chris_j_paxton · x · 2026-09-30
In an IROS demo, the Flexiv robotic arm has no touch sensors on its links — only torque sensors in its 7 joints — yet accurately infers where a person presses it, displaying the contact point on screen in real time. Joint-torque inversion alone can provide coarse tactile localization.
