Adding Jev to Morrowind NPCs: bandits flee and witnesses stay silent
sidahuj · x · 2026-09-29
sidahuj used Jev to give Morrowind NPCs smarter decision-making, with two striking results:
- In bandit fights, NPCs now update decisions and morale every second instead of fighting to the death — and flee after watching their band get killed
- With a memory layer, an NPC who saw the player steal chooses not to report them out of fear, remembering the player killed bandits
A neat demo of retrofitting LLM + memory onto classic game NPCs.
