Dev monetizes automated newsletter via Markdown promo files — 3 sales on launch day, 41% open rate

Ian Nuttall shared a low-friction way to monetize his automated newsletter, powered by Jesse Hanley's email product: a 'promos' folder in his repo where he drops a Markdown file with ad copy, which is then automatically prepended to the next scheduled email. Promos run once by default, or recur if set.
- The first promo, for his new indexing app Index My Site, went out today and drove 3 sales immediately.
- The newsletter has 9,435 subscribers with 41% open and 11% click rates; he recently pruned 5,000+ inactive subscribers.
- He says the setup could also sell advertising slots to other products, and is open to sponsors.
