Jürgen Schmidhuber pushed back on Bernie Sanders' bill to ban artificial superintelligence, arguing bans are infeasible: compute keeps getting 10x cheaper every 5 years, and soon millions will run entire frontier labs plus recursive self-improvement algorithms on their desktops. Sanders cited Jensen Huang's remark that labs causing world damage should be shut down: "If you can't control it, don't build it."
