OpenAI claims AGI may have arrived or become imminent with the September 3 release of its new model Astra; yet by some older definitions AGI was reached years ago, while by others AI systems still lack essential faculties. He notes the field used to redraw the human-machine boundary with each advance, whereas frontier labs now try to collapse it—and anyone drawing a precise line does so because they've decided enough is enough.
