UK launches National Centre for Information Defence to fight AI disinfo and deepfakes

Per The Guardian, the UK will establish a National Centre for Information Defence, bringing together intelligence agencies, law enforcement and social media companies to "detect, attribute and disrupt" information attacks by hostile states (notably Russia), many enabled by AI including deepfakes. The centre will also help communities identify disinformation and build national resilience. PM Burnham said at the UN that people struggling with cost of living and NEET youth are especially susceptible to foreign influence online.
