The AI Flywheel Closes on Chips and Robots, but the Grid Becomes the Real Bottleneck
r0ck3t23 · x · 2026-09-23
A long-form take on the AI self-acceleration loop: AI designs better chips, chips train better AI, AI runs robots, robots build factories and power plants. Each segment partially exists today, but the loop runs at its slowest link — physical ones like fabs that take years and grid connections that take longer. The constraint shifts to energy, materials, land, cooling water and permits: 'a joule matters more than a dollar, a permit matters more than a funding round.' Fights over data centers and interconnection queues predict the future more than any model release. The loop is far from closed, but unlike every prior economy, this one only needs to be allowed, not staffed.
