Google research scientist Christian Szegedy predicts AI will first conquer math, then physics, then biology (or the latter two in parallel). Once AI starts tearing through major open problems across all three, entire fields could shift from years between breakthroughs to weekly breakthroughs. Adding a physicist's angle: frontier research has always demanded extensive resources, so that part will be business as usual for physicists.
