How to pitch AI projects at work: frame them around org goals, not models

Advice for engineers wanting to do AI work inside a company: first learn your org's goals (e.g., cutting total compute cost), your manager's goals (e.g., more efficient CI), and your own aims — via all-hands, cross-team meetings, and 1:1s. Then frame any problem you want to solve so it ultimately improves the product and aligns with those goals: instead of "I'll build an AI model that selects which tests to run per PR," say "I want to ship product improvements faster while spending less on CI."
