Blender as the backbone for generative video: a Nike spec film built with ComfyUI
Papermaker97 · reddit · 2026-09-22
An independent creator shares a workflow that uses Blender — not text prompts alone — as the structural foundation for generative video, producing a spec product film for a Nike shoe (not commissioned or affiliated). ChatGPT Astra assisted concept development, storyboarding, and Blender scene production; camera moves, composition, timing, and rough scene structure were built in Blender, then each shot was processed through a ComfyUI workflow.
Findings:
- The 3D-guided approach preserved shoe design consistency and gave directorial control
- It was far from automatic: shot matching, scene refinement, and cross-shot detail consistency required heavy manual iteration
The creator documented the visual exploration, storyboards, Blender scenes, final frames, and ComfyUI workflow, and invites feedback on which part to automate first.
