UN tech envoy: AI is not a force of nature, humans can control it

Gary Marcus resurfaces a quote from Amandeep Singh Gill, the UN's under secretary general and special envoy for emerging technologies, in the New York Times: "We talk about A.I. as though it were a weather event... A.I. is not an uncontrollable force of nature — it is built by humans and it can be controlled by humans." The Indian Society of AI welcomed the stance as saner and more practical.
