Google Distinguished Scientist to Give UCSB Talk on Reinventing the Camera with AI

Peyman Milanfar, Distinguished Scientist at Google leading computational imaging research and a National Academy of Engineering member, will speak at UC Santa Barbara's ECE Seminar Series on Sept 25 in a talk titled "Reinventing the Camera: AI and the Future of Imaging."
The abstract argues AI is fundamentally transforming how visual content is captured, reconstructed, and enhanced—overcoming the physical limits of phone cameras with enhanced zoom, state-of-the-art noise reduction, and blur mitigation, while powering intelligent post-capture curation and editing tools. Milanfar previously worked on the Google Glass imaging pipeline and spent 15 years as an EE professor at UC Santa Cruz.
