TMLR submissions quadruple on AI-generated influx; ICLR 2027 caps single authors

Gautam Kamath notes TMLR submissions have quadrupled, largely driven by single authors with no prior ML papers, warning that a downstream effect of AI will be more gatekeeping and credentialism. A follow-up adds that most new TMLR submissions come from single-author papers without a PI, and ICLR 2027 has capped such authors at one submission each — with limited effect so far.
