A developer combined BaoCut (subtitle recognition and video export) with Jev to build a local semantic video retrieval tool: type a sentence and it surfaces relevant clips from long videos.
Jev judges each subtitle segment on multiple dimensions — relevance to the query intent, whether the statement is coherent out of context, how engaging the content is, and whether it truly contains the sought information rather than just matching keywords.
Testing on the author's own videos showed accurate retrieval and fast response — a lightweight, replicable recipe for LLM-powered semantic video search.
