Schmidhuber: rename AI back to Cybernetics — deep learning is closer to Wiener's tradition

Jürgen Schmidhuber notes that in 1956, Cybernetics was renamed "AI" by logic-programming experts, and with renewed talk of renaming the field, he proposes reviving the old name. Modern AI is built on neural nets and deep learning, making it conceptually closer to Cybernetics than to 1956-style AI — and "Cybernetics" simply sounds better, he argues.
