Google engineer rakyll unveiled AX (github.com/google/ax), positioned as Google's open agentic orchestrator and runtime, already at 2k stars.
Key points:
- Kubernetes reinvented for agent workloads: adds statefulness and fast resumption, with declarative YAML task definitions familiar to K8s users
- Runs on Agent Substrate for sandboxed execution: sandboxes tasks, wires workspaces, fences network access, and targets billions of autonomous agent tasks per cluster
- Still v1alpha1, with breaking changes expected before a stable release
