IIT Madras' AI4Bharat launches Indic LLM Arena to crowd-rank LLMs for Indian languages
heiga_zen · x · 2026-09-20
AI4Bharat at IIT Madras has launched Indic LLM Arena, a public arena where users can query LLMs in Indian languages and vote on the best answers.
The team positions it as a public utility rather than just another leaderboard:
- Developers: test models against real-world Indian use cases
- Enterprises: find which LLM actually resonates with customers in rural India
- Sovereignty: build AI that respects India's social fabric and safety norms
The project aims to push AI beyond grammar into contextual understanding for Indian languages, and calls on the public to help rank the models shaping India's digital future.
