Developer giffmana restates his long-held stance on "emergent" AI abilities: the term really means "we didn't expect this to be in the data, but it was" — not genuinely new capabilities. He likens it to parents mistaking a child's recitations for emergent behavior simply because they don't see everything the kid was exposed to.
