Continuing the thread, panickssery argues AI-consciousness positions won't mainstream because it would require new evidence that AIs are conscious, which he doesn't expect. He adds that the current level of uncertainty would already be enough for EAs to obsess over the issue on invented '0.01% probability of AI consciousness' logic — evidence they won't push it mainstream.
