Cua released CUA-S1, a tiny specialized "System One" model for computer use, betting most form interactions don't need a general-purpose LLM to reason step by step.
- First release CUA-S1-FORMS has just 706k parameters and a 2.8 MB checkpoint
- Instead of generating tokens, it scores options for each structured element: use value, CHECK, CLICK, or SKIP
- Ignores screenshots and doesn't generate new text values; first training run took under 30 minutes on synthetic data
- Inspired by Typesafe's Jev and Kahneman's System 1/System 2 framing; actions can be ordered by your code and executed by Cua Driver
