Kuaishou's EvoRec: self-evolving agentic recommender lifts ad revenue 4.6%

Kuaishou researchers present EvoRec (arXiv:2611.01977), a unified agentic recommendation framework combining autonomous decision-making with reflection-driven self-evolution:
- Architecture: a Need Agent infers user needs from long-term, short-term and working memory; a Planning Agent allocates retrieval budgets between behavior continuation and need satisfaction, selects tools and sets ranking-fusion weights; an Acting Executor executes and logs decision traces.
- Self-evolution: a Dynamic Reflection Tree diagnoses failures in need inference, planning or prior repairs, proposes personalized fixes validated via replay; verified repairs update working memory and are distilled into cross-user strategies — continual improvement without parameter updates.
- Results: 15.7% Hit@50 improvement over the strongest baseline on Kuaishou local-services ads data; hierarchical reflection adds 13.1% for users with prior repairs; a 7-day online A/B test shows +4.6% ad revenue and +3.5% CTCVR.
