Qualcomm CEO: Agentic AI will need 'gazillions' of tokens, far more than chatbots

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon argues future AI demand will require "gazillions" of tokens, because agentic AI consumes dramatically more than chatbots. A chatbot spends tokens mainly on language, while an agent burns tokens on deciding, checking outputs, calling tools, revising plans, and coordinating with other software — every autonomous task involves multiple systems and rounds of interaction. If agents become the dominant workload, the economics of inference compute and token demand change fundamentally.
