Non-technical user rebuilds a community bot with Codex in ~20 minutes
Travi3000 · x · 2026-09-19
When MoustacheDAO's "Proof of Moustache" check-in bot broke during an update, a community member with zero technical background rebuilt it from scratch in about 20 minutes using OpenApps' underlying tech with Codex via a ChatGPT account, then polished it over a few more hours.
The new bot logs check-ins when users post a moustache photo with /pom, reacts with a banana emoji and a cheeky compliment, maintains leaderboards, summarizes chat via /summary, collects requests via /request, and answers questions. AI usage is capped to keep costs down.
