Claude Code adds AGENTS.md support in v2.1.277, adopting the open agent standard

Anthropic has added AGENTS.md support to Claude Code in version 2.1.277: when no CLAUDE.md is present in a folder, Claude will check for and use AGENTS.md as project instructions, toggleable via /config. This moves coding agents toward a shared project-instruction standard, letting multiple AI tools collaborate on the same repositories. Commenters call it 'code cleanup on a global scale' and see standardization as inevitable.
