Daniel Lemire's thread: AMD Ryzen 7 processors from 2022 to 2024 improved overall Geekbench performance by more than 50%. He breaks down why: frequency rose only 15%, so that can't explain it; transistor count is up 50%, mostly in the cores rather than cache; max instructions per cycle went from 6 to 8, with bigger caches and a better reorder buffer; and Zen 5 leads on SIMD data parallelism.
