Microsoft AI CEO Suleyman: industry now agrees on independent auditors for training runs

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman told the BBC that AI companies now agree on independent auditors, and that those auditors may need government funding.
"The industry is all now in agreement that there should be independent auditors — embedded evaluators that work inside the companies — who are singularly there to verify the kinds of training runs, their safety, the integrity of those systems, and report back to independent third parties." They must be embedded, fully independent, technically expert, and incentivized via government funding or support.
