Responding to criticism that the EA/rationalist community is "remarkably scandal plagued," AndyMasley disputes each point: polyamorous dating is limited to a few specific people in the Bay Area, billionaire funding is disclosed openly, college chapters are no different from other ideological groups, and Eliezer Yudkowsky's fanfic (HPMOR), while enjoyed by some, hasn't really influenced anything in EA.
He later clarified he meant the fanfic itself wasn't influential—not that Eliezer as a figure lacks influence.
