Responding to a defense of EA against "scandal plagued" claims, SurveilLance argues Eliezer Yudkowsky has been hugely influential on AI X-Risk and on the "in the water" practices of many EAs, while his foremost acolyte Scott Alexander is explicitly EA. He calls it absurd to bring up the Harry Potter fanfic (reportably disseminated with EA-adjacent money) without acknowledging EY/MIRI's role — "the whole reason we're having this conversation." He concedes SBF was a real scandal but says the verdict needs a base rate for comparison.
