Pichai confirms Gemini 4 is in training, with coding and agentic coding as top priorities

On Google's Q2 earnings call, Pichai confirmed Gemini 4 is now in training, describing it as a significantly larger effort than any prior Gemini and naming coding and agentic coding as the capability areas Google most needs to improve.
User pdamodaran adds that Gemini has improved exponentially in recent months, especially its autonomous access to his entire Google Workspace — something he says he wouldn't grant to Claude or ChatGPT.
