Workflow infrastructure company Temporal raised $550M at a $12.55B valuation, just seven months after a $3M... a $3B... after its D round valued it at $5B. It doesn't train models — it sells "Durable Execution," letting long-running workflows and AI agents resume from saved state after failures. ARR exceeds $250M (up 200%+ YoY), with 4,300+ paying customers including OpenAI, NVIDIA, Netflix and JPMorgan Chase. Founders Maxim Fateev and Samar Abbas have tackled this problem since 2002 (Amazon SWF, Microsoft, Uber's Cadence). Net revenue retention tops 200%, the cloud platform processed 1.9T actions in August (+350% YoY), and OpenAI's usage grew 60x in under a year. Competitors like Inngest and Trigger.dev are emerging as agents stretch task durations from seconds to weeks.
