GitHub Copilot CLI returns 400 error on /btw and /ask when model is set to Auto
vori1973 · ghdev · 2026-09-17
A user filed an issue on the copilot-cli repo: in GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.86-2, running /btw or /ask with /model set to Auto fails with 400 The requested model is not supported.
Manually selecting any specific model makes the same commands work again. Reproduced on both Windows PowerShell and WSL Linux; the issue is currently in triage. Workaround: skip Auto and explicitly pick a model.
