OpenAI Foundation funds "Public Data for Health" to create biology datasets for AI

MIT Technology Review reports the OpenAI Foundation — owner of 26% of OpenAI and possibly the world's richest nonprofit — is staffing up and issuing grants under a new "Public Data for Health" effort, paying to create high-quality scientific datasets. Its first funded idea, from analyst Ruxandra Teslo: bid at bankruptcy proceedings for failed biotech companies to acquire their "lost archive" of regulatory filings, manufacturing strategies, and safety data to train AI copilots for drug approval.
