Anthropic merges Claude chat and Cowork into one agent that keeps working after you close your laptop
deepakns · x · 2026-09-17
Anthropic announced that Claude chat and Cowork are merging into a single Claude. Users can ask a quick question or hand over a full brief, and Claude carries the work through—even after the laptop is closed—checking in when something is unclear while the user keeps final say.
The post frames the arc: Claude Code showed AI could do real engineering work, Cowork proved knowledge workers could delegate briefs and get finished files back. Now the two experiences converge. Rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers over the next few weeks.
