Anthropic merges Claude Cowork into chat, launches Docs and Slides in beta

Anthropic announced that Claude Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude: any conversation can now invoke Cowork and Design capabilities with existing context, skills, and connectors, rolling out to Pro and Max plans over the coming weeks.
Three new beta tools are available on paid plans (Enterprise admins control rollout):
- Claude Docs / Claude Slides: Claude drafts documents and decks; you can edit directly, leave comments for Claude, present straight from Claude, or export to PowerPoint/PDF.
- Claude Design: now works inside conversations, while standalone usage remains unchanged.
The company says the change was driven by user feedback that deciding where a task belonged — and losing context across the two surfaces — was the most frustrating part.
