Brendan McCord and Matt Mandel launched Cosmos Ventures with a $77.6M Fund I to back "philosopher-builders" founding institutions for the AI age. Portfolio includes AIUC, Prime Intellect, Workshop Labs (acquired by Thinking Machines), and a stealth education company. LPs include Reid Hoffman, Fred Wilson, Stand Together, and the Astera Institute. The firm published a manifesto, "Dare to Found," arguing AI is the biggest opening for institution-builders since the American founding.
