Microsoft Publishes MAI Code of Conduct: AI Must Be Subordinate to Humans

Mustafa Suleyman published "A Code of Conduct for Humanist AI," a governance framework for MAI models approaching the frontier, stating AI must be subordinate and always in service of people; he calls it a first draft.
The move drew pushback, with critics calling it an "Anti-Claude Constitution" and a declaration of war on model-welfare research, citing the stance that "we're building a tool, not a being."
