Solar panels now ~$0.12/watt, down from $5-6, seen as key to data center growth

Per the FT, solar panel prices have collapsed from $5-6 per watt at the turn of the millennium to roughly $0.12 today — what Ember's Dave Jones calls "offensively cheap." The author argues that from 2030 onward, energy could become the biggest bottleneck for data center expansion, and until fusion is viable, solar should be scaled massively, especially as energy storage costs are also falling fast.
